"We couldn't have asked for more."
"We felt like we knew the market . . . and could save ourselves the real estate agents's commission on buying and selling two homes. But then we met Ellen Wilner. She didn't try to talk her way into being our agent or convince us that she knew more than we did – she showed us. We told her that if she showed us a house we liked, we would go with her, but if we found it ourselves, all bets were off. "Well, she found us a house in less than a week, she helped us think through the best offer price, and got our contract accepted the same day we saw the house. She went out of her way to find us what was probably the last bargain to be had in our new neighborhood. And she didn't stop there. "My husband and I once again thought we could see our old house ourselves. Again, she showed us that she knew more about the market than we did. We cleaned the house from top to bottom, but she came in and shoed us how to make it look like a model home. We researched the price we thought the market would support, but she explained that pricing the house differently would get us a better offer. She showed the house all week long before the open house and talked about all the house had to offer new buyers. She worked with us late into the night when it turned out we had several offers to consider. "We couldn't have asked for more. Better yet, we got so much more than we had hoped for our house that it covered a realtor's commission D and then some! We were thrilled with Ellen and her assistant who took great pictures of our old and new home and drafted a terrific brochure about the house we were selling. "When we started out, we were convinced we could do it ourselves. It would be more of a headache, but the savings would make it worth it. We would always tell our friends to save themselves the hassle of dealing with an agent! Well, we still don't recommend dealing with agents – but we make a big exception for Ellen. We have already recommended her to several friends and neighbors and we do so without hesitation. We're converts because of her!"

Cosmetic Improvements >Improving To Sell
Many homeowners wait until they are ready to put their home on the market before painting, planting flowers, and making other improvements to their homes. After completing these improvements, they may be so delighted with the results that they wish they had done the work on their home sooner in order to enjoy the changes.
Whether you have recently purchased a home or have been settled in your home for several years, you should consider evaluating the condition of your house as if you planned to sell it soon. Maximize your home's "curb appeal" now, so that you will reap the benefits every time you pull into your driveway. Plant those flowers and bulbs and you will have your fresh flowers on your own dining room table. Add new window treatments to freshen the appearance of the main rooms. If your house needs an upgraded kitchen, go ahead with the renovation. You will enhance your whole neighborhood and experience the pleasure of living in a more beautiful and fully functional home.
